Little Girls Learn Manners
in the Princess Academy
of the Kingdom of SM City Bacolod
Little princesses wave to everyone after they have complete their training.
Many little girls dream of becoming a princess, to wear flowing long dresses, and to wear tiaras. It is no wonder why many birthday parties are princess-themed.
And I am not surprised because my little lady also likes pretending to be a princess.
Shawna, along with hundreds of little girls ages 4 to 12, were given the chance to become a princess for at least an hour during the SM City Bacolod event entitled “Princess Academy.” There were four batches during the day and Shawna was part of Batch 1.

After the registration, the girls were seated outside the court and eagerly waited to be shown in.

They even had chambermaids, menservants, and guards! How neat is that?

For an hour, the pretty headmistress Blinky de Leon (a TV host in Cebu) taught the little ladies how to conduct themselves when meeting a new friend, how to do the proper handshake, how to eat, to stand, sit, walk, and course, to curtsy. These are all basic manners that young ladies should need to learn but they set it up in a magical way that made many girls’ dreams come true that day.

It was like a mini kingdom set at at the atrium of SM City Bacolod events area. The area was cordoned off from the crowd. When the girls arrived, they went through registration and then the photo booth so that they had a keepsake of this special event. At the photo booth, they were made to sit on a plush violet velvet chair that’s fit for royalty. They waited a bit before they were led by a chambermaid into the court and then seated on their assigned seats. It was like what you would see on TV, when princesses arrive and their presence is announced at court.
Then Ms. Blinky came out, wearing a crisp navy blue and gray outfit that was reminiscent of Headmistress Privet of Barbie Princess Academy. Yes, we watched that many times. She was very nice and engaging, not to mention very pretty, too. She led the kids through the motions and then got them involved in an intimate tea party. Since my daughter Shawna and her friend Julia were the VIP guests of this batch, Ms. Blinky called them to the front and they were the examples on how things were done. It was was a great bonding time for both of them. Then they had a tea party.

After the kids completed all the exercises, they all went to the front for their princess oath-taking ceremony. When everything was done, the girls had a princess parade around the mall, complete with a banner and heralds announcing the royal parade. Everything was tailor-made to make the girls feel what it is like to be a princess. Oh how lovely, to have all of this for a birthday party idea!

What a super fun experience for the kids and the parents as well. I really hope they will hold this again next year, just in time for my second daughter to be old enough to join this. 😀
